IDS Scheer Group
History
IDS Scheer was founded in 1984 by current supervisory board chairman and Chief Technology Advisor, Prof. Dr. August Wilhelm Scheer. As a spin-off of the Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik (Institute for Information Systems), IDS Scheer was based on an innovative vision from Professor Scheer:
“I wanted to incorporate the results of my research in real products and expose them to the most rigorous testing, to prove that they can withstand the test of the market.”
The results of Prof. Scheer’s research produced a convincing and highly profitable business model, which is proven by IDS Scheer’s net profit and above average growth rates recorded year after year.
Since 1984, IDS Scheer has helped to define the BPM market. The first offerings were based on the Y-Model, a reference framework that helps identify and classify processes. These processes are now represented in the ARIS Architecture. Today, the Y-Model is reflected in the IDS Scheer company logo.
The globally recognized and acclaimed ARIS Architecture, a comprehensive framework for the management of business processes developed by Prof. Scheer, is the basis for all IDS Scheer offerings today. IDS Scheer is the market-leader in BPM software, solutions and services — all based on the unrivaled ARIS Platform for Process Excellence, an integrated, comprehensive solution portfolio for the strategy, design, implementation and controlling of business processes. Since the inception of Gartner's Business Process Analysis Magic Quadrant in 1997, IDS Scheer has enjoyed the top leadership position.
Today, approximately 3,000 employees serve IDS Scheer’s 7,000 customers, located in over 70 countries. In 2007, IDS Scheer’s revenues reached 393.5 million Euro. IDS Scheer is listed in the TecDAX on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Germany).
